Notes about moving to a new home
-
Uhaul rentals always cause me anxiety because you never know whether the place you’re renting from is going to have your truck available or not that day. It’s best to rent from uhaul in person rather than using their online system, and be there 15 minutes before you’re supposed to pick up your truck. They don’t abide lateness. Another pitfall to watch out for when moving to a new home is dealing with building management if you’re moving into an apartment. Make sure that your window for moving items is as wide as can be, and don’t assume a job will go perfectly, plan for contingencies.

Moving large items
-
Large items love to scrape and damage flooring. So, whenever you move anything, try to have plywood or moving blankets underneath. Also, dolly tires should be made of a soft material.

Measuring and pre-planning while moving
-
Before moving anything anywhere, make sure you measure and plan a route for your item from point A to point B. Know how to disconnect items (like a handrailing) in case things get in the way.
